Does UVC light kill viruses?

Yes. Germicidal UVC lamps can kill up to 99.9% of viruses, airborne bacteria and mold spores. This includes COVID-19.

How does it work?

When a pathogen is exposed to UVC light waves at a specific wavelength and for a certain timeframe, its DNA and RNA are damaged to the point that it is inactivated and unable to reproduce further. We calibrate our UV machine in your home or business to maximize its effectiveness and reach, destroying 99.99% of all pathogens the light touches.

Is UVC light exposure safe for people?

With proper PPE, yes, which will matter most for our UV Technicians. We run the UVC cycle with no one in the room, so there are no safety concerns. There are no lasting UV waves once the cycle is complete.

What effects does UV light have on items in the room?

Prolonged exposure to germicidal UVC lights can shorten the shelf life of some materials, including plastics, fabrics, and dyes. Our machine's cycle is run in very short cycles and could be compared to direct sun exposure. Over many hours of continual exposure, items could begin to fade, but this is not likely to be the case for work we would be helping you complete.

Why use ZAP Strike instead of a germicidal spray service?

While there are certainly ways you can disinfect your surfaces using sprays or foggers, the EPA's recommendations require most porous surfaces to be adequately wiped with surfactants prior to their use. This can be relatively time consuming and difficult to accomplish. Our process does not require this step. Additionally, we can provide an efficacy report that demonstrates the UV power provided to the surfaces in your home or business, showing you exactly how much disinfection took place in each room or space.

What makes ZAP Strike different?

We are a unique service in DFW, providing clinical level disinfection services at cost effective rates. Our mission is to help our community reopen with confidence, while providing the most high quality service possible.
